From açaí seeds to
cleaner air.
Innovation, Purpose and Sustainability.
Great transformations begin when we see problems as opportunities to do things differently. Meet the initiative that brings together Brazilian technology, the circular economy and local labor to turn waste into real solutions.
From environmental liability to opportunity
Did you know that about 90% of the açaí fruit is just the seed? The global success of this superfruit has created a silent, massive environmental challenge. Every day, thousands of tons of seeds are improperly discarded, forming mountains of organic waste.
The environmental and social impact: this improper disposal contaminates soil and rivers with leachate, emits large amounts of methane (one of the main drivers of the greenhouse effect) and directly affects the public health of producing communities, encouraging the spread of insects and disease. The very families who make a living from açaí end up living with the burden of its waste.
The other side of the coin: at the same time, basic sanitation systems face their own challenge: controlling odors in septic tanks, biodigesters and other anaerobic treatment systems.
By connecting these two major problems, we developed our solution.
Technology that turns waste into solutions
Pyrolysis + chemical activation = high-porosity biochar
Technology, circular economy and social impact
We turned a serious problem into cutting-edge technology, putting people at the center of the process. To solve the disposal problem, we brought local labor into the collection and transformation of this environmental liability. What used to be waste now generates income, dignity and new job opportunities for the region.
Through pyrolysis, the seeds collected by the community are converted into very high-porosity biochar. During this process, we chemically activate the biochar with a multifunctional agent, creating a revolutionary filter media.
What sets the technology apart

Who makes it happen
This sustainable innovation comes to life through a union of expertise:
We believe the future of sustainable innovation is, above all, collaborative. This collab between Aquarela Eco, Resix and Águia de Fogo proves that by combining responsibility, expertise and technology, we can solve real, complex problems end to end.
